Stories of Masturbation and Sex Education

January 28, 2010

Remember when I asked people to send in their very own masturbation and sex education stories? Well, one person actually took the time to write and send me something. She gets bonus points in my book. If I were handing out stickers, she’d get a gold star. Yes, that’s right, a gold star.

I found that what she had to say was very interesting, so I’ve copied it here for all of your inquisitive minds. Her first language is not English, so I’ve taken the liberty to correct a few grammatical or structural mistakes, but I’ve left most of it as is as to not muddle the writer’s voice.

My parents were always really shy about the subject of sex. Well, my mum especially was and I guess my dad supposed it was her role to talk about it. I learned very young that babies come from the women’s vagina, when my mum was pregnant with my sister (I was 3 years old), I saw some books and asked some questions. My parents are biologists so for them it was really important to demystify it, “girls are not born in roses”.

So I knew to have a baby you had to put a man’s penis into a woman’s vagina and you had to be in love to do so.

But when I grew up as a teenager, my mum stopped talking about those things. I think she secretly hoped I would wait as long as possible to have sex. I wasn’t allowed to take the pill (it didn’t prevent me to have unsafe sex at 15 but well…). It’s only at 17 I really confronted my mum and told her I needed to take the pill because it was already too late to protect me from the outside world. She almost collapsed! We had a fight (you know the usual mum-teenage daughter relationship).

I think it’s stupid to expect your child will not want to have sex if you don’t talk about it. I had some unsafe sex with different guys at the time and I’m lucky I never got pregnant and never got any diseases!

My mum is so square about those things, I even had trouble to tell her I had my period when it came. Well, of course she eventually discovered it and was mad I didn’t tell her.

My aunt who’s a nurse married a doctor and they had three boys. I remember once when I was eating at their house, my youngest cousin who was around eight years old at the time, kept asking his mom what a clitoris was (and other things like that). She would explain it to him in a very straightforward way, but the hilarious part is that he kept asking her to repeat the explanation. I wonder if she was as straightforward with her sons once they actually started experimenting with sex. I think it might be more difficult for some parents to acknowledge the fact that their kids have grown up, but at least you have to respect parents that will take the time to actually explain the real things to their kids.

I never really talked to my own mother about things that were personal to me in that regard, I kept it pretty confidential. I don’t remember when I was told where babies come from, I think most of those “revelations” (like Santa not being real) came on progressively when I was pretty young and never as a shock. In terms of keeping things from my mother, I went on the pill when I was fifteen and didn’t tell her. I booked the appointment myself and went in for my first pap test after sleeping with a guy who pretended to put a condom on (it was really dark), a fact that I only became aware of when he came (I was also kinda tipsy). I figured that I should edge my bets, since life (what I mean is “people”) screw you over some times.

Most of my sex education, I did it watching porn on the internet. Honestly, the first time I had sex, I had never watched porn and I didn’t even know what I was supposed to do, I didn’t know that you had to move, I thought well, the penis is in … what’s up now? So I downloaded porn. I think it’s a great thing when you don’t know how to do it. Because it is so weird at first, you don’t really know what you’re supposed to feel. And even though it is really fake and I know it, it helped me to know what to do, and to know how to give great blowjobs hum hum!

It is better than the only sex ed class we had (it was like 2 hours instead of french class) and we watched a movie, really eighties with bushy pussy and huge wavy haircut of a woman giving birth, it was bloody and disgusting and I think we all closed our eyes.

I never realised before writing it down what a strange journey it was to discover sex.

About masturbation, I started masturbating when I was watching porn because I didn’t know what to do before. Then I stopped for a while because I think my boyfriend does it better (we’ve been together for 5 years, he knows me by now). But I recently bought a rabbit and … well it’s awesome so I rejoined the masturbating crowd.

Actually I didn’t feel the need to masturbate but it didn’t stop me from reaching orgasm. It began when I was 14 I think … my erotic dreams!!! I don’t know when or where they’ll strike, usually it’s when I’m taking an afternoon nap but sometimes it just happens during the night, I have erotic dreams with real vaginal orgasms. It is weird to describe but it’s pretty awesome. When it happens, I know in my dream that I have to find a guy … whatever guy crosses my path in my dream, flirt a little and then we have sex before I wake up and I have an orgasm with real vaginal contractions. The few girlfriends I talked to about it told me they have erotic dreams but no real orgasms. Does anybody know what I mean?

I’ve heard of women reaching orgasm simply using the power of their imagination and I’ve certainly heard of men who have erotic dreams that end with a happy ending of the wet variety, but I had never heard of or even considered that the same could happen to a woman. I mean, it makes total sense, if you can  orgasm through thought, dreams are not far behind, since they are made up of the same thing. I wonder if the intensity is different? How does a person sleep through that? And why aren’t I having any?

Well back to the masturbation, there was one time, I was studying in the library and I also was really horny. I went to the bathroom and masturbated. This is my wildest story. Otherwise I never masturbated with friends, I even have hard time masturbating in front of my boyfriend. As I said, I think he does it better than me that’s why if I have to do it alone … I ask my friend the rabbit.

P.S. Ahhh, the rabbit. Good times.

I’ve had orgasms while sleeping/dreaming as well. I’ve never had an orgasm through thought alone while awake though… wouldn’t that be convenient?

Sex dreams happen in women (like they do in men). Usually, one is awoken by the orgasm – which can be very pleasant, but I guess that depends on your attitude about it. Orgasms resulting from sex dreams are usually as intense or more intense than while awake because there is less anxiety getting in your way.

As far as parents talking to their kids about sex, I think that they should answer children’s questions honestly, truthfully, and succinctly. They should not give more information than the child asks for. In general, parents should learn to deal with their own anxiety about sex in order to communicate with their children in a calm and direct way. I actually have posts about both of these issues in my blog:

I just stumbled upon your blog. I hope it isn’t inappropriate (since I am a male) to comment here on my first masturbation.

The first time I ever orgasmed was when I was 13. On a summer day I was lying on my stomach in my parents’ unmade bed, while they were at work, reading a pornographic paperback that they kept in their nightstand. Instinctively I was thrusting my hips rubbing the head of my erect cock on the smooth cool sheet. I must have done this many many times before, and it felt good, but I had NO idea what was about to occur!

All of a sudden it happened! My loins exploded with ecstatic pleasure, and whitish fluid began to rhythmically spew from my cock! Intense pleasure rippled throughout my body with each squirt of fluid. I tried to hold it in, contracting my urethral muscles (that I used to stop the flow of urine) as hard as I could, but naturally that didn’t stop the throbbing ejaculation. It only intensified the overwhelming pleasure that was at that moment devouring my body. I had NO idea what was happening!

After this mind blowing incident concluded, I looked in shock at the warm gooey wet mess I had just made on the bed sheet! I quickly cleaned it up. I was scared that I had hurt myself!

And I have been hurting myself ever since. 🙂

Totally not innappropriate. Everyone is welcomed, well except total assholes (male or female).

Anyways, I’m at work right now, so I’m doing this incognito. Just wanted to say I enjoyed your story and you made a male orgasm sound very pleasurable.

Thank you, Olga, for your kind words.

I think orgasms, male and ESPECIALLY female orgasms, are extremely fascinating!

  8. February 16, 2010 1:54 pm

It’s true BOTH are fascinating. I just happen to not be able to experience one of them, which I guess is the case for everyone. That’s why hearing about someone else’s experiences and feelings about it is so interesting.

Hmmm. Maybe THAT is why I am so fascinated to read about female orgasms!

Ladies are lucky to be able to have multiple orgasms and orgasms that are of longer duration than a man’s. 🙂

Mine seem to last 7 to 8 seconds. I am NOT complaining since the buildup (AND I enjoy extended “foreplay”) is also quite pleasurable.

True, they both have the upsides.
